Amulet

An amulet is some sort of object worn to ward of evil. For some people, their amulet could be garlic (vampires), a necklace, bracelet, shoes, etc. Personally, my amulet is the cross. Not because I'm supersticious and I can't go anywhere without it, but I believe in what it stands for. Even if I do not physically wear one, in my spirit and mind I know that the Lord is always with me to defend me from evil. This reminds me of a bible verse: "If God is for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31.

Ankh
This is an Ankh, also known as the Egyptian cross or the symbol of life.

I really like the piece you chose for this topic. I think that people no matter what their background or choice of religion (or choice of no religion) always have something they draw some sort of inspirtion from. Whether it be a cross, picture, or lock of hair we as a people look to our most valued trinkets and find comfort in their meaning and memories.

yes, yes...and as eeka said quite true that throughout history little amulets have always been imbued with a certain belief and acts also as a means of inspiration...
